Huiyee Chiew (周慧儀) is an award-winning journalist and podcast producer. She received her master's degree at Columbia Journalism School, specializing in investigative reporting, and received training in investigative techniques, photography, and visual storytelling. She currently works as a reporter/researcher for The Washington Post.

 

Her reporting primarily focuses on human rights and migration issues across Asia, including undocumented workers in Taiwan, the presidential election in the Philippines, and stateless sea nomad communities in Malaysia. Her work has been recognized by the Human Rights Press Awards, the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Awards, and the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) Awards.

She is also a co-author of the Chinese book, "Journalist《新聞記者》," which documents and honors the hard work of journalists worldwide. Her interviews include Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Ressa, Pulitzer Prize–winning photojournalist Marcus Yam, and Myanmar reporters Paul and Ye Mon, who covered stories under a coup.

Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and possessing full professional proficiency in English, she also understands Malay, Taiwanese dialect, and Cantonese.
